Vintage Tea Table – Mid-Century Japan

A beautifully minimal Japanese low tea table crafted in solid wood with exposed joinery and clean, understated lines. The form is pure and functional, with gently rounded corners and sturdy legs - letting the natural grain of the wood do all the talking. This table likely served as a chabudai, a traditional low table used in Japanese homes for tea, dining, or display.

Based on the red wax export seal underneath, this piece was produced in Japan between the 1950's and 1970's, during a period when Japanese craftsmanship was gaining international recognition for blending modernist simplicity with traditional techniques. The rich patina and soft wear add character, making it an authentic piece of mid-century Japanese design. 

Original Japanese low tables like this are rarely found outside Japan, especially with their mid-century export markings intact.
