A beautiful hand-thrown French stoneware vase with a rounded, generous form and a narrow neck that gives the whole piece a calm, balanced presence. The glaze is gorgeous: warm earthy clay on one side, soft ash-white on the other, blending together in a natural gradient that shows off the wheel-thrown ridges underneath. Quietly expressive, tactile, and very much in the spirit of mid-century French studio pottery.
A beautiful piece if you love sculptural pottery with soft, natural tones - it brings warmth and atmosphere to any room, whether styled alone or as part of a small grouping. Stamped Grès du Marais – France on the base.
