A low ceramic dish from Royal Copenhagen’s Siena series, decorated with a rhythmic, abstract pattern in warm browns, ochre, charcoal, and soft grey on a pale blue ground. We love the earthy tones typical of the late 1960s and 1970s. Suitable for serving, snacks, or everyday items, and just as nice used purely as a decorative dish.
Designed by Ellen Malmer as part of Royal Copenhagen’s mid-century fajance production, Siena shows her interest in graphic composition and surface pattern inspired by nature and abstraction. This is a series we don’t see every day, and this one is a particularly good size in wonderful shape.
Use it on a coffee table or shelf, or let it work harder as a serving dish. It pairs especially well with natural wood, ceramics in neutral tones, and other mid-century pieces - and makes a perfect gift for someone who appreciates mid-century ceramics with an artistic edge.
