This gorgeous handblown art glass pitcher or vase was made in Japan in the 1950’s by a company called Lefton. Very Murano style, copying Italian art glass of the era. Skillfully crafted, this handblown piece has a translucent melon-colored interior covered with swirling layers of opal white and clear glass. The color and intensity changes from pink to tangerine orange depending on the lighting. The opening has a curled edge and an elongated spout. We absolutely love this whimsical little thing.

Lefton started importing Japanese decorative pieces to the US during the Occupied Japan era (1946 - 1952). Many of them feature playful designs typical to the 1950’s. This vase was possibly manufactured for Lefton by the glassblowers of The Miyawo Company, known for their high quality ceramics and glassware. Lefton pieces became wildly popular in mid-century US and were produced in Japan until the 1970’s, remaining highly collectable to this day.

In excellent vintage condition, no chips or cracks.

Many vintage items also carry production marks from the manufacturing methods of their time. These traces are part of what makes each piece what it is, and add to its character over time.

We photograph and describe everything as clearly as we can, so you know what you’re getting. Please take a moment to review the photos and description before ordering. If anything feels unclear, just reach out - we’re happy to help.
