This large round rattan tray features a crisp, geometric weave and a raised rim, suggesting it was made for daily use—likely as a serving tray or for drying herbs, fruit, or grain. The pattern is both decorative and practical, allowing for airflow and structure.
The technique appears across many craft traditions - especially in Southeast Asia, but with echoes in Japanese bamboo work and Nordic folk weaving. We love these simple, purpose-built objects that age beautifully and ask for nothing.
