A sculptural hand-thrown teapot with a bold presence and richly textured volcanic glaze surface, likely made in a French studio in the 1960's – 70's. The exterior is unglazed and deeply tactile, with dark and sandy tones that evoke lava stone or ash. The interior is finished with a deep, glossy glaze, and the snug-fitting lid adds a satisfyingly weighty feel.

This piece balances functional craftsmanship with an expressive, wabi-sabi–influenced aesthetic — raw, elemental, and quietly elegant. Likely a one-off or part of a very limited production, it was made during a fertile era of artistic stoneware, when French ceramicists embraced organic forms, textural contrasts, and influences from Japonisme. The thick-walled shape, matte surface with natural firing variation, and glazed interior are hallmarks of this movement.
