Hand-Knotted Rya Rug with Cross Pattern - Nordic Mid-Century

A minimal and beautifully made vintage rya rug in off-white wool with a simple dark brown cross pattern. The short pile and tight knotting give it a dense, soft surface that feels both sturdy and refined. The subtle irregularities and the visible loom-woven backing add character — and remind us this was made by hand, not machine.

The backside is built like a traditional rag rug, heavy and tightly woven, which keeps the rug in place without additional underlays. Likely Scandinavian and made in the 1960s–70s, this piece reflects the Nordic taste for simplicity, warmth and durability. It’s humble in the best way — quiet, honest, beautifully aged.

Works equally well on the floor, across a bench or hung on the wall. Adds subtle texture, warmth and natural tones to a room.
