Stoneware Lidded Jar with Handle by Marie Beckman - Sweden, 1970s

A sculptural lidded jar by Swedish ceramic artist Marie Beckman, crafted in the 1970s. The vessel combines soft modernist lines with folk-inspired detail – a rounded stoneware base left matte, and a glazed upper section in warm ochre and cream tones, finished with a hand-painted zigzag motif on the lid. The arched handle completes the form, giving the piece both function and quiet presence.

Beckman’s pieces bridge rustic tradition and modern studio craft – each form carefully thrown and glazed by hand. The “MB” signature is visible on the base, confirming her authorship.
