Charming small vase with a stylized geometric design in warm, faded tones of brown and cream. The surface has a matte, almost velvety texture that softens the sharp zigzag pattern circling the shoulder. A strong but simple form that works equally well as a bud vase or a stand-alone accent. Retains its original foil sticker marked “Made in GDR”.
A great example of East German functional design with a graphic twist. These smaller GDR vases are increasingly sought after for their quiet character, earthy tones, and their link to a fascinating design history shaped by limited resources and strong craftsmanship.

ABOUT GDR CERAMICS – During the 1960's and 70's, East German ceramic factories produced an astonishing range of decorative vases and vessels, many of which have since become collectibles. These pieces were typically made by state-owned manufacturers like Strehla, Haldensleben, and others, often marked simply with a sticker or a generic stamp. Though mass-produced, they carry a distinct charm: bold silhouettes, earthy glazes, and surprisingly experimental surface designs that echo both folk craft and modernist ideals. Today, GDR ceramics are appreciated for their unique visual language and under-the-radar appeal — a great entry point for new collectors.

We deliver orders to Helsinki every Monday, so your order will be ready for pick-up at 15:00 on the next Monday after we've received your order. Orders placed on Sunday before 18:00 can be delivered to our pick-up point during the next day.
