A vintage Finnish burl bowl with a warm, natural patina. Carved by hand, it has a crescent-shaped profile balanced on a small pedestal base. The swirling burl grain gives it plenty of character, and the surface has mellowed beautifully over time.
Burl objects have a long tradition in Finland, where makers turned the irregular growths of trees into everyday vessels and decorative pieces. Each one is unique - no two burls form the same way - which makes even a modest bowl like this a small original.
This one shows some wear on the pedestal, but is otherwise in excellent condition with perfect patina. A simple way to add a touch of Finnish folk craft to your home.
