These vintage wooden skittles were made to be knocked down — but we’d rather put them on a shelf and let the woodgrain do the talking. Turned from solid pine and left unpainted, they showcase hypnotic growth rings and a warm golden tone that glows softly with age. Each one is slightly different, full of natural pattern and knot details that make them feel almost animated.
Originally made as part of a children's bowling game, these are now closer to folk art sculptures — objects with presence and personality. Vintage wooden toys and forms often blur the line between function and sculpture. In the Nordic countries, even everyday playthings were often thoughtfully designed — with quality wood, minimal finishes, and simple silhouettes that age beautifully. Today, these pieces are collected and admired for their honesty, warmth, and quiet character.
