Rare Arabia ‘Botnia’ Side Plates by Olga Osol - Finland 1968 – Set of 6

A rare hand-painted series from Arabia’s Botnia collection, designed by Olga Osol and produced in 1968. Each plate features a rhythmic wreath of blue and brick-red brushstrokes - a confident, modern interpretation of Finnish folk motifs. The result is crisp, graphic, and full of warmth.

This was a small-batch production, one of those where Arabia’s decorators still signed their work individually. Every detail of these plates was done by hand, including the base marks. The painter’s initials, I.V., add another layer of authenticity and charm.

NOTE ON THE DESIGNER
Olga Osol (1915–1991) worked at Arabia from the 1940s through the 1970s, contributing to several of the factory’s most beloved hand-painted series. Her designs are known for their clear brushwork, earthy colour palettes, and a balance between folk influence and modern simplicity - qualities that make her work both collectible and easy to live with today.
