1960's Ant Table Lamp by Ingo Maurer for Design M

An exceptionally rare and striking piece of lighting design by Ingo Maurer for his Munich-based label Design M. The Ant lamp (or "Ameise") was designed in the late 1960's and is an early example of Maurer's experimental, sculptural approach to lighting. A true statement piece that balances industrial minimalism with creature-like whimsy. 

The lamp features a cylindrical aluminum body and eight angled stainless steel legs, creating an expressive silhouette that resembles a mechanical insect or alien object. Designed to sit low on a surface or crawl across the floor, it casts dramatic shadows and emits a focused beam of light from a mirrored bulb. Rare, collectible, and still utterly contemporary.
