A rare early pair of handleless cups from the ‘Riekko’ series, designed by Peter Winquist in 1975 for Pentik. Crafted in Posio, Lapland, these stoneware cups are from the first years of Pentik’s ceramic production — we love the original logo engraved on the base, the thick speckled glaze, and the organic, hand-finished feel of each cup.

We have two similar pairs available — four cups in total — but we’re listing them as two separate sets because of a small but meaningful detail: this pair has a slightly warmer white tone on the inside, while the other is a bit cooler. Both are perfect, both are white inside — the difference is subtle enough that most won’t even notice, but if you’re the type who does, you’ll appreciate the distinction. They can of course be mixed — we just like being upfront about these small details.

NOTE ON THE DESIGNER – Peter Winquist (b. 1943) was one of Pentik’s first ceramic artists, known for his clean, practical forms and subtle Nordic palette. His designs helped shape the identity of Pentik during its formative years in the 1970s.

ABOUT PENTIK – Pentik is a beloved Finnish design brand known for its warm, earthy aesthetic and deep roots in Nordic pottery. Founded in 1971 by Anu Pentik, the company began as a small ceramics studio in Posio, Lapland, making it the northernmost ceramics factory in the world. We love the way early Pentik pieces capture the spirit of the 1970s with their raw textures, natural glazes, and sculptural forms inspired by the northern landscape. Long before “slow design” became a thing, Pentik was creating timeless pieces that combined craftsmanship and high-quality materials. Today, vintage Pentik ceramics are sought-after collectibles, treasured for their authenticity and quiet character.
