Pentik ‘Kaamoskivi’ Candle Holder in Cobalt Blue - Finland 1970s

A hand-crafted stoneware candle holder from Pentik’s legendary Kaamoskivi series – the very first studio range created by Anu Pentik in the early 1970s in Posio, Lapland. No two are alike: each piece is one of a kind, formed by hand and glazed in earthy tones that echo the Nordic landscape.
A deep cobalt glaze sets this piece apart — blue is one of the rarest colours in the Kaamoskivi series. The surface shifts between smooth, high-gloss areas and small sections of natural texture, showing how the glaze settled during firing. A compact, characterful candle holder with a clean opening and a steady shape.

ABOUT 'KAAMOSKIVI'
Kaamoskivi (“Polar Night Stone”) marked the beginning of Pentik’s story. What started as a “beautifully ugly lump,” inspired by the raw power of Lapland’s landscape, became a Finnish design icon and the foundation of the Pentik brand. Rough, irregular, and full of life, every piece reflects the raw energy of Pentik’s earliest studio years – from small, compact forms to large sculptural pieces. Some hold a single candle, others branch into several.
ABOUT EARLY PENTIK CANDLE HOLDERS
These candle holders are original studio pieces from the 1970s, made by hand in Pentik’s Posio workshop — not contemporary reissues. Because each one was shaped individually, the candle holes vary slightly, and sometimes the candle may need a small wrap of foil for support. For the best fit, we recommend Pentik’s Kaamos candles, originally designed for these holders and now back in production in Posio. They also work beautifully simply as objects — the organic forms and glazes make them easy to enjoy even without candles.
