A confidently shaped Safari glass vase designed by Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen Lasi during the late 1960s. The form is bold and well balanced: a cylindrical, textured body rising into a wide, open bowl that gives the piece its architectural presence.
Aladin’s work has seen growing appreciation in recent years, and Safari is a perfect example of what makes her designs so compelling - confident forms, expressive surfaces, and colour used with intention rather than restraint.
The glass is clear with a soft pale yellow tint that gathers toward the base and along the rim, where the colour deepens slightly and catches the light beautifully. The textured surface is tactile and lively, very much of its time, with a pop-art energy that still feels fresh.
This vase is definitely one of our all-time favourites. Works beautifully as a standalone object, but also holds flowers with ease.
