Heavy, sculptural, and brilliantly clear — this pair of Lunaria bowls was designed by Tapio Wirkkala in 1970 and cast using a centrifugal technique that creates organic, frozen-motion textures. The surface pattern evokes bark, ice, or lunar craters depending on the light and your imagination.

A perfect example of Wirkkala’s ability to transform glass into something elemental. These bowls feel at once modern and natural — equally at home on a brutalist sideboard or a sun-drenched kitchen table.

These are the perfect size for serving small sides, snacks, olives, or just as sculptural tabletop pieces. A great way to add a little Wirkkala to your daily rituals — practical, beautiful, and harder to come by than his more famous designs. Sold as a pair.

NOTE ON THE DESIGNER - Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) was a Finnish design visionary and one of the defining figures of post-war Nordic modernism. His experimental approach to materials helped reshape the way glass, wood, and ceramics were used in everyday objects. ‘Lunaria’ showcases his fascination with nature’s textures and his technical skill in pushing industrial processes toward the poetic.
