Nuutajärvi 'Flora' Pitcher in Neodymium Glass - Oiva Toikka - Finland, 1960s

A stunning Flora pitcher mouth-blown at Nuutajärvi from neodymium glass - that rare shade that shifts from soft lavender to cool blue as the light changes. The embossed pattern wraps around the form in Oiva Toikka’s familiar language of berries, petals and dotted textures. It feels both graphic and organic, a mix he did better than almost anyone.
The form is clean and functional, with a comfortable handle and the kind of weight that makes it pleasant to use. Lovely for water, juice, flowers - anything that benefits from a little colour and mood.

NOTE ON NEODYMIUM GLASS
Neodymium glass is coloured with rare earth minerals that respond to different light temperatures. In warm light it reads as lilac; under cooler light, the tone turns blue. The effect is subtle and almost hypnotic - one of Toikka’s most collected colour variations.
