This type of elliptical brooch was a familiar silhouette in mid-century Finland, often handcrafted by small silversmiths or independent makers. This one is stamped with the Finnish national inspection mark, the 813H silver content mark, and a maker’s mark.

NOTE ON 813H SILVER
813H is a traditional Finnish silver alloy containing 81.3% pure silver, used widely in Finland from the late 1800's through the 1940's, before being gradually replaced by the internationally standardized 925 sterling silver in the 1950's. While slightly less pure than 925 sterling, it’s valued for its durability, soft sheen, and heritage.
