A rare and highly collectible mid-century set of six miniature fruits, hand-carved from alabaster and finished with hand-applied colour. Apples, pear, lemon, orange, and cherries are rendered in softly rounded forms, each with slight variations typical of handmade work - no two quite the same.
The surface has aged beautifully. The paint has dried and mellowed over time, with light wear and small scuffs consistent with age. Colours feel warm and softened rather than bright, giving the set a depth that only comes with time.
A striking still-life group when styled together in a shallow bowl, and just as strong arranged loosely on a table or shelf. Sets like this are increasingly hard to find complete - a special decorative detail with real presence.
