Thrown in dense stoneware and finished in a layered glaze that transitions from sand to deep rust-toned brown, this piece balances earthy texture with graphic precision. The flared lip is slightly thinner than the rather thick body. Inside, subtle throwing rings and glaze variation add depth.
Signed and dated 1983 by an unknown maker, this piece was likely produced in a Northern European studio setting. The materials, form, and glaze palette reflect the organic, earthy aesthetics of 1980s artisan ceramics — made for real use but with an artistic sensibility.
