Hand-Painted Mid-Century Ceramic Ashtray - Germany, 1960s
Hand-Painted Mid-Century Ceramic Ashtray - Germany, 1960s
Couldn't load pickup availability
A small, characterful ceramic ashtray from Germany, finished in a pale, speckled glaze. The surface is lively and expressive: fine brown brush-like lines move across the form, punctuated by small hits of mustard yellow and brick red at the centre. It has that unmistakable mid-century looseness - playful, graphic, and a little bit odd in the best way.
Originally designed as an ashtray, it works just as well today as a catch-all for jewellery, coins, or other small essentials. Easy on a table or shelf, and quietly charming.
Overall in beautiful condition, but there's a tiny chip on one edge - see third photo.
