A small but impactful stoneware bowl from Gustavsberg’s Kreta series, designed by Britt-Louise Sundell in the 1960s. The deep black glaze and graphic white circle motif give this piece a bold, modernist character, balanced by its simple form and speckled rim.
Designer Britt-Louise Sundell (1928–2011) was part of Gustavsberg’s talented mid-century studio team. Her designs are admired for their graphic, architectural quality and restrained yet playful aesthetic. The Kreta series reflects the expressive yet disciplined style of Swedish studio ceramics of the era, feeling just as fresh now as it did in the 1960s.
This rare piece works beautifully as a display object, or as a small serving or catchall bowl with a graphic punch. A collectible slice of mid-century Scandinavian design, and definitely one of our personal favourites!
