Gunvor Olin for Arabia - Ceramic Art Tile with Pear Motif - Finland 1960s

A richly glazed ceramic art tile by Gunvor Olin (later Olin-Grönqvist), featuring a stylised pear and plum against a textured blue ground. The surface is beautifully nuanced – deep green fruit forms rendered in a matte, almost velvety glaze, with vibrant outlines breaking into subtle gloss. Fine crackle throughout the glaze adds further depth and patina. Designed to be hung on the wall - groove on the back.

Made by Arabia and signed by the artist, this is one of a rare series of fruit-themed ceramic art tiles by Gunvor Olin (later Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist). NOTE ON THE ARTIST - Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist (1928–2005) was one of the most beloved designers at Arabia, where she worked from 1951 into the 1990s. Best known for her Kosmos and Fructus series, she also produced many hand-finished art pieces – including these tiles – which merged Nordic folk influences with modernist abstraction.
