A sculptural studio piece by Swedish ceramic artist Elsi Borelius. This handmade earthenware vase has a quietly expressive form — full-bodied with a tilted neck and a white-handled curve that cuts through the deep, mottled blue glaze. The surface is rich and tactile, and the proportions feel both bold and grounded.
Made in the 1970’s, this is a beautiful example of post-war Swedish studio ceramics, where form and function merge with artistic intuition. Borelius worked in several mediums, but her ceramic pieces are especially sought after — and this one is signed by the artist. A rare find.
We love it as a stand-alone object with presence. The handle gives it a functional gesture, while the form leans sculptural — a kind of modernist folk artifact.
