Jussi Goman - Second Hand (2015)
Acrylic on canvas
Framed size 45 cm x 65 cm
This original artwork by Jussi Goman is a striking example of his expressive, electric style. With its bold purples, surreal hand forms, and layered textures, the piece blends humor with a hint of the uncanny. Tattoo-like markings and unexpected objects add to its offbeat energy. True to Goman’s work, it feels spontaneous yet intentional — a mix of raw gesture and graphic clarity.
The title is just as playful and layered. On the surface, it’s a literal nod to the two hands depicted, but it also invites deeper interpretation — hinting at touch, memory, or the passing down of things, whether objects or emotions. There’s even a possible nod to time (as in a clock’s second hand), adding a subtle temporal twist. It’s clever, concise, and open-ended — a wink to the viewer, classic Goman.
Framed in a sleek, silver-toned metal frame with a lightly brushed finish, the presentation is clean, minimal and a little industrial — the perfect contrast to the expressive brushwork and vibrand colors.
Goman’s work has gained a cult following in the Nordic art scene for good reason: it’s bold, witty, and instantly recognizable. Whether you’re a collector or just drawn to art that doesn't take itself too seriously, Second Hand is a one-of-a-kind statement piece that brings both edge and emotion to any space.

NOTE ON THE ARTIST - Jussi Goman (b. 1980) is a Finnish artist known for his vibrant acrylic paintings and expressive ceramic sculptures. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, Goman reimagines classical art motifs with bold colors, dynamic brushwork, and playful textures - sometimes adding surprising 3D elements like paint globs or bandage-like forms. In recent years, he’s brought his distinctive visual language into ceramics, creating sculptural works that echo the energy of his paintings. Goman's work is featured in major Finnish collections like Kiasma, HAM, and the Saastamoinen Foundation, and he was awarded the William Thuring Prize in 2020.
