Arabia ’Oliivi’ Lidded Jar by Olga Osol - Finland, 1969

A lidded jar from Arabia’s rarely seen Oliivi series, designed by Olga Osol and produced between 1969 and 1973. The design features a single olive-green stripe around the lid - a quiet but intentional detail that gives warmth to the otherwise matte beige glaze. A perfect example of Finnish modernism at its most restrained: simple, functional, and full of character.

Osol’s work for Arabia is admired for its calm precision and practicality. The short-lived Oliivi series captures that spirit beautifully with its solid stoneware body and minimal decoration - pieces made to be used every day, yet designed with refined grace.

This rare find was originally designed as a sugar jar, but we love it for salt, tea, or small treasures on the kitchen shelf.

NOTE ON THE DESIGNER
Olga Osol (1926–2014) was a Finnish ceramic designer whose career at Arabia spanned from the 1950s to the 1970s. Known for her restrained color palette and functionalist precision, Osol designed tableware that bridges everyday practicality and timeless modern form - small, perfectly balanced objects that continue to feel fresh decades later.
