Classic and compact, this vintage stoneware ashtray is part of the Mahonki series by Arabia, Finland. The glossy, iron-rich glaze is deep brown with subtle variations — glossy, moody, and unmistakably mid-century. Rounded form with four grooved rests and a satisfying weight in hand.
Designed by Ulla Procopé (glaze) and Göran Bäck (form), this model was produced between 1959 and 1969 as part of Arabia’s Model S line. The base is marked “ARABIA MADE IN FINLAND,” hand-carved into the clay.
A nice example of everyday design elevated by quality materials and a sharp eye for proportion. Great for burning incense, corralling bits and bobs, or adding a smoky 70s vibe to your shelf.
