A set of four egg cups from Kaj Franck’s iconic Kilta series for Arabia. Glazed in deep cobalt blue, these small conical forms prove Franck’s belief that good design should be simple, stackable, and endlessly functional. Each piece was made to work with others in the same modular system: practical, durable, and beautiful in everyday use.

Produced in the 1950s–60s, Kilta was Arabia’s modern tableware revolution. Its clean shapes and interchangeable pieces set the foundation for later series like Teema, still in production today. The blue glaze has a rich, inky tone that contrasts perfectly with the pared-down form.

NOTE ON THE DESIGNER
Kaj Franck (1911–1989) was one of the defining figures of Finnish modern design. His Kilta series for Arabia, introduced in 1953, reimagined tableware as a modular system - minimal, functional, and democratic. The idea was simple but revolutionary: fewer pieces, used in more ways, without decorative excess. The result became one of the most influential design philosophies in the Nordic world.
