A striking piece of Finnish studio pottery, likely made in the 1960's or 70's and signed RH - most likely the mark of Risto Hämäläinen. The sculptural form, earthy glaze, and overall finish closely align with Hämäläinen’s known work, which often features strong silhouettes and a confident, hand-built feel.
We love this piece - the shape is minimal and clean, while the oxblood red glaze adds depth and intensity. A great example of Finnish modernist ceramics: quietly bold, beautifully made, and still right at home in any contemporary setting. A rare find.
✦ Height 14 cm (Ø 7.5 cm)
✦ Excellent vintage condition with minimal to no signs of use
NOTE ON THE ARTIST - Risto Hämäläinen is a Finnish ceramicist known for his studio work. His pieces often blend clean modernist forms with a hands-on, tactile finish — a balance of precision and rawness that defines much of Finnish mid-century ceramic art. Long appreciated by collectors, Hämäläinen’s work is a hidden gem of Finland’s modernist movement - cool, crafted, and quietly iconic.
